If you are a client wanting to get microblading or other PMU procedures, or someone who is looking to be a PMU artist and has a lot of questions, or is confused with some information you’re hearing, then this is for you.
Here are some Microblading myths that need to be debunked.
1. It looks fake.
Though it might look a little strange after microblading procedure and while healing, your brows will look natural once healed. The color thickness of the hair strokes, color, and pattern will look natural if the technique was done right.
2. It’s permanent.
Microblading is not like the traditional tattoo that stays forever. Microblading is semi-permanent meaning it will eventually fade in 2-3 years without a proper touch-up. Tattoo artists use liquid ink and machines, while us, microblading artists use pigments and microblades.

3. It’s extremely painful.
Microblading procedure should not hurt as most artists use numbing cream before the procedure, but you should also consider that not all clients have the same pain threshold. Some clients might still feel just a little pain even after numbing cream application.
4. Microblading is suitable for all clients.
This is not true. Microblading isn’t for everyone. It isn’t for clients with oily skin, big pores, skin conditions like rosacea, rashes, pimples on or around the brow area, keloids/keloid prone, super thin and sensitive skin, people under medication, and of course if pregnant or nursing. Make sure to do a client interview prior to scheduling a procedure and give health consent forms/checklist to ensure the client is a good candidate for microblading. You can watch this video to know who can and who cannot get microblading – https://youtu.be/ULLe4ZeJ4Dc.
5. It is the same with hair strokes by machine.
As the result may look the same, it is completely different. Microblading is done using a microblade, or a set of tiny needles packed closely together, while hair strokes by machine are done using a machine with low vibration and a single needle. The technique is very different and needs to be learned separately.
